FOLDING JUNCTIONS

SOUTH GATE HIGH SCHOOL, Los angeles

By acting as an icon, this campus gives its students pride and encouragement; Value is placed on their education and a sense of identity rises in the greater context of Los Angeles.

The campus is organized into a series of hubs with connecting linear elements running east-west for optimal solar performance. These hubs not only shade the spaces below, but also act as atriums for students and faculty to socialize and collaborate. Unique programs, such as the library and cafeteria, are allocated to the sloped spaces branching off these hubs for optimal function.
